Child Advocacy Team (MCCAT)
The Morgan County Child Advocacy Team is a team of individuals from numerous multi-disciplinary agencies to improve the quality of investigations relating to physical and/or sexual abuse of children so their perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. This team effort is essential to help alleviate additional damage to children who are already extremely traumatized by crimes committed against them. Since the implementation of our team, our goal has been and continues to be, to have an advocacy center in Morgan County for the children of Morgan County to provide them a safe, child friendly environment where a child of physical and/or sexual abuse can come for an investigative interview. We are close to meeting this dream as we currently have a room ready and it is located in the basement of the Morgan County administration building. We are currently working on a plan to staff the center with a forensic interviewer. While we work on the plan to staff a forensic interviewer we currently use the Hendricks County Advocacy Center “Susie’s Place” for most of our interviews. Susie’s Place has been a wonderful option for our team until we can get our own center up and running.
We will keep the public posted on our efforts involving the advocacy center. Thank you to all who help to keep children safe from physical and/or sexual abuse.
